Find your residence key or card

VING card

This key card is used for building access at most residence buildings. Check out the video above for step by step instructions on how to use it. 

Step one: Insert your VING card into the card reader, then slowly pull it out.

Step two: When you see a yellow light, enter your four-digit student ID number. 

Step three: The light should turn green and you will hear the door latch click indicating it is unlocked.

Metal key

This key is often used for opening your residence room.

Step one: Insert the key into the door lock

Step two: Turn the key left or right to right to unlock the door.

iClass card

The iClass card is a “tap and go” card. It also doubles as your UBCcard. It is often used to gain building access at the entrance of residences.

Step one: Tap the iClass card onto the black box by your residence front door.

Step two: Once the light goes green, you should be able to hear the door click to open.

Prox card

This card is used for building access at Gage apartments. Watch the video above for more information.

Step one: To activate your prox card for the first time, tap your prox card onto the reader (do not hold the card on the reader for an extended time). The light will turn red.

Step two: After the light turns red, please wait at least 12 seconds and tap your prox card again. Sometimes the reader requires “waking up” before it turns green. 

Step three: After 12 seconds, tap your prox card onto the reader. The light should turn green and the door latch will click indicating it is unlocked.
