Fitness in Residence

****Per Dr. Bonnie Henry’s Public Health Order, we are suspending all group fitness and yoga classes until 12:00 AM on Nov 23, 2020.****

We’re offering free yoga and group fitness sessions in residence. If you live in UBC Student Housing, these sessions are for you!

Please note that there will be no classes held on Stat Holidays. Schedule subject to change without notice.

COVID Precautions

What precautions do I need to take?
  • Non-medical masks mandatory at all times
  • Bring your own mat (yoga)
  • Sign-in upon arrival
  • Sanitize hands before entering
  • Follow all health/safety instructions provided by the instructor
  • Follow all UBC and residence COVID rules and guidelines
What precautions is Student Housing taking?
  • Maximum capacity regulations established
  • Spaces reconfigured to allow for proper physical distancing
  • Spaces are sanitized twice daily
  • Hand sanitizing stations available at Commonsblock and fitness space entrances
  • For classes in fitness rooms, each participant will be given a sanitizer spray bottle and fresh cloth to sanitize equipment before and after use
  • Attendance taken at beginning of each session for contact tracing purposes

Will I be the only newbie?

Don’t know how to downward dog? Haven’t set foot inside your residence fitness room? Don’t worry, our instructors will be there to help you, so don’t feel lost!

What should I wear/bring?

Dress in comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes and, if possible, bring a water bottle. For Yoga sessions, please bring your own mat/blocks.

Don’t forget your non-medical mask!

Which sessions can I attend?

Please attend sessions scheduled in your assigned residence area. Thunderbird residents, you are eligible to attend sessions at Marine Drive.

Do I need to register?

No need to register in advance. Just show up 15 minutes before the session begins. All sessions are first-come, first-served. Please note that classes have a limited number of people per session, depending on the size of the room they’re being held in.
