Ponderosa Commons is a vibrant multi-purpose hub where mature students live and learn, and the campus community comes to study, meet and eat. UBC's favourite pizzeria, Mercante, is located here, along with Harvest, a popular small grocery store. Ponderosa Commons was built with unique sustainability features designed to reduce waste, energy and water use.

    Sustainability is a shared value in residence. Ponderosa Commons has a large sorting area with collection bins for household recyclables, e-waste, charitable donations, and trash.

    Basketball, tennis courts, playing fields and beaches are easily accessible. Nearby Pacific Spirit Regional Park has over 35 kilometres of multipurpose trails to explore.

    Residents have access to a campus medical clinic and safety programs such as SafeWalk. There are regular nightly patrols of residence properties.

    Ponderosa Commons suites come with kitchens. Students can purchase an optional meal plan for convenience—no need to cook or carry cash.

Sustainability Features

Ponderosa Commons is at the forefront of sustainabile living at UBC. It was built with a unique exterior layer to reduce energy loss and a state-of-the-art ventilation system. All units have low flow fixtures and in-suite recycling.
