Year Round Residence Move In
Who: Students with Year Round Residence contracts at Acadia Park, Brock Commons, Exchange, Fraser Hall, Green College, Iona House, Marine Drive, Ponderosa Commons, St. John’s College, tə šxʷhəleləm̓s tə k̓ʷaƛ̓kʷəʔaʔɬ and Thunderbird.
When: Students arrive throughout the year, most often in early-May. For 2025, Move In Day will begin at 9 am on Monday, May 5.

For students arriving in May 2025, please plan to arrive directly to your new residence front desk for check-in, beginning at 9 am. You will also receive an email with detailed Move In Day information and arrival instructions for your residence a few weeks prior to Move In Day.
Summer Residence Move In
Who: Students and visiting students with Summer Residence contracts and Summer Stay Through contracts at Fairview Crescent and Ponderosa Commons (Cedar House).
When: For 2025, Move In Day will begin at 9 am on Sunday, May 11.

Winter Session Term 1 Residence Move In
Who
Students living in Fairview Crescent, Orchard Commons, Place Vanier, Ponderosa Commons (Cedar House), Ritsumeiken-UBC House, Totem Park and Walter Gage.
When
- Orientation (Jump Start*) Move In: Tuesday, August 26, 2025.
*Pre-registration for Jump Start is required - Standard Move In: Saturday, August 30, 2025.

Move-in Appointment
We will be asking students to select a move-in appointment time between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm on their move in day. Keep an eye out for more information arriving to your email in August. If you need to arrive outside those hours, that’s okay! We will provide more detailed Move In Day information and arrival instructions via an email in August.
In the meantime, if you’re eager to make plans, check out the information below. Check-in begins at 9:00 am for all areas.
Keep in mind, residence front desks close at 11 pm. You cannot check into residence between 11 pm and 7 am. If you’re booking a flight that arrives after 10 pm, you will need to find outside accommodation as our check-in desks will be closed by the time you arrive to campus. It’s recommended that you do not book a flight earlier than your arrival date.
Arrival Days: August 26 and August 30
- If you’re moving into Totem Park Residence, Orchard Commons Residence or Ritsumeikan-UBC House head directly to the Life Sciences Centre at 2350 Health Sciences Mall for check-in.
- If you’re moving into Place Vanier Residence or Walter Gage Residence head directly to the UBC Flag Pole Plaza at 6331 Crescent Rd. for check-in under the big tent.
- Moving into Ponderosa Commons – Cedar House? Head directly to Ponderosa Commons Commonsblock at 2075 West Mall.
- Moving into Fairview Crescent? Head to Acadia Park Commonsblock at 2707 Tennis Crescent.
Winter Session Term 2 Residence Move In (January)
Who: Students moving in for Term 2 at Acadia Park, Brock Commons, Exchange, Fairview Crescent, Fraser Hall, Green College, Iona House, Marine Drive, Ponderosa Commons, St. John’s College, tə šxʷhəleləm̓s tə k̓ʷaƛ̓kʷəʔaʔɬ, Thunderbird and Walter Gage.
When: Students begin arriving on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 12 pm.

For students arriving for Term 2 in January, you are able to start arriving anytime after 12 pm on Sunday, January 4. You will receive an email with detailed Move In Day information and arrival instructions for your residence in late December.
Please note that the Student Housing offices have variable operating hours during winter break and are closed December 25–January 1. If you have not received an email by January 2, please email move.in.day@ubc.ca
