Campus Vision 2050 Open House

The Draft 30-year Vision for the UBC Vancouver Campus is here! What will the Vancouver Campus look like in 30-years? Take an interactive look with us between 10:30 am and 1 pm on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Totem Park Ballroom and learn what the campus may look like, talk with project team members, and provide your feedback!

Setting Healthy Patterns

Are you looking to create healthy habits that last? Join UBC Food Services and Residence Life on Wednesday, February 8 from 4 pm–5 pm at the Marine Drive Ballroom to learn about how you can create sustainable habits that support your health and wellbeing in 2023 and beyond.

Learn how to Sort it Out

Recycling and understanding where your recyclables and food scraps go means less waste gets sent to the landfill. In this workshop, you’ll learn more about how to use the recycling stations and how to sort your waste materials. Bring your food scraps and other waste, and get your hands dirty in some practice sessions! Help UBC be more sustainable by learning how to sort it out.

Subletting in Residence

Are you thinking of subletting your unit or being a sublessee, but not sure how? This session is for you! We will walk you through the process and answer your questions. Join us at 6 pm on March 6, 2023 at Walter Gage Residence to learn all about the sublet process.

Please note that as a primary contract holder, you can only sublet your room/unit to a registered UBC student if you (i.e. the primary contract holder) live in year-round housing, not in winter housing.

Intuitive Eating 101

Are you tired of diet culture and restricting yourself from foods you love? Are you looking to eat in a way that you enjoy and makes your body feel good? Join UBC Food Services and Residence Life on Wednesday, March 8 from 4 pm-5 pm in the Orchard Commons Activity Room (Room 2118) to learn about what it means to eat intuitively, how to say no to diet culture, make peace with food and ultimately heal and strengthen your relationship with food.

Understanding Self-Defence

Choose from two workshop dates. This two-hour workshop will cover:

  • self-defence law in Canada
  • the types of violence and predators that one may encounter, and how predators think and behave
  • managing and reducing our risks
  • de-escalation and understanding our own role in aggravating or mitigating dangerous situations
  • the psychological side of violence, before, during and after an encounter
  • boundary setting and understanding when and how to resort to violence
  • physical techniques to defend yourself and deter an attacker
  • dealing with the aftermath of a violent or predatory encounter
