Living at tə šxʷhəleləm̓s tə k̓ʷaƛ̓kʷəʔaʔɬ

tə šxʷhəleləm̓s tə k̓ʷaƛ̓kʷəʔaʔɬ (The Houses of the Ones Belonging to the Saltwater) is our newest residence community at UBC. The Musqueam Nation generously gifted the hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓-language residence and house names to UBC in spring 2021.

In September 2021, q̓əlɬaləməcən leləm̓ (Orca House) and qʷta:yθən leləm̓ (Sturgeon House) will open and become home to nearly 400 students. Once the remaining three houses are complete, this community will provide housing for 884 students in a vibrant and dynamic section of campus, alongside Walter Gage, Tallwood House and Exchange.

tə šxʷhəleləm̓s tə k̓ʷaƛ̓kʷəʔaʔɬ is just steps away from the UBC bus exchange, Aquatic Centre and Student Recreation Centre. The AMS Nest, UBC Life Building and many other campus amenities are right nearby.
