Stay Connected

Stay connected

Easy Eating

Meal Plan
At UBC, it’s easy to enjoy delicious, high-quality foods every day. Students who live in Orchard Commons, Place Vanier, and Totem Park purchase a required Residence Meal Plan. Students who are offered accommodation in other residences will have a kitchen, but can also enjoy added convenience and savings with a UBCcard Value Plan. Learn more about food at UBC.

Sort It Out!

Sustainability is a shared value in residence. Each residence has a sorting area—usually in the basement—with clearly marked collection bins for food scraps, household recyclables, e-waste, charitable donations and trash. All residents are expected learn how to use sorting areas properly and to use them frequently, especially when moving in or out. Residence dining halls at Totem Park, Place Vanier and Orchard Commons also have waste disposal areas to recycle/compost food scraps and packaging.

There are regular nightly patrols of residence properties and plenty of useful online resources to help students prepare for an emergency and prevent crime. There are also many opportunities to get involved in the residence community, like joining a committee or becoming a Residence Advisor. UBC is also well known for world-class athletics, museums, gardens, theatre, and guest speakers. UBC Recreation runs programs throughout the year.

Getting something fixed is easy. Residents can use the Online Service Centre to request maintenance or repairs in their suite.

Transportation & Parking

Parking & Bike Storage
There are lots of options for getting to, from and around campus, like walking, cycling, carshare and public transit. Both indoor and outdoor bike storage facilities are available in each residence area. Ultimately, the safest place to keep your bike is in your room, and we strongly recommend a good U-lock for locking up around campus. Bike theft happens. Or consider using UBC’s bikeshare program instead! While car parking is available for a fee through UBC Parking, there are increasingly limited parking spaces on  campus.
