For residents who are moving out or getting a new roommate.

Cleaning checklist

  • Take all garbage and recycling to your residence waste sorting area.
  • Ensure all donations are taken to the donation zone and sorted correctly.
  • Clean all areas thoroughly: Wipe walls and surfaces such as desk, chair, closet and shelves. Vacuum floor/carpet.
  • Remove personal items, furniture and anything else that wasn’t in the unit when you arrived.
  • Remove all stickers, pins and wall tape.
  • Move furniture or other items that came with your room back to its original location and re-assemble if necessary. You will be assessed if anything is missing or damaged. Use the Online Service Centre to view a furniture inventory for your unit.
  • Bathrooms in hÉ™mÌ“lÉ™sÉ™mÌ“, qÌ“É™ləχən and Orchard Commons: Clean the toilet, sink, mirror, cupboards, drawers, shower and walls. Wash the shower curtain and rehang it.
  • Floor/house lounge: Remove any food or items belonging to you from the fridge.

Departure checklist

  • Empty and unlock drawers and closets, put your mattress pad on your bed and lock your room door. Leave nothing behind.
  • Return residence keys to the Front Desk. You will be charged for unreturned keys.
  • Complete check out procedures at the Front Desk and sign your checkout card.
  • Parking cancellation must be initiated with the Front Desk at checkout. Refunds, if applicable, will be issued at a later date.
  • Use the Online Service Centre to sign up for mail forwarding.

For residents who are moving out or getting a new roommate.

Remember: while individuals are responsible for private bedrooms, all roommates are responsible for common areas. All spaces will be thoroughly inspected.

Cleaning checklist

  • Take garbage, compost and recycling to your residence waste sorting stations.
  • Ensure all donations are taken to the donation zone and sorted correctly.
  • Clean all areas thoroughly: Wipe walls and surfaces such as countertops, chairs, tables and desks. Sweep, wash and vacuum all floors/carpets.
  • Remove personal items, furniture and anything else that wasn’t in the unit when you arrived.
  • Remove all stickers, pins and wall tape.
  • Bathrooms: Clean the toilet, sink, mirror, medicine cabinet, bathtub/shower and walls. Wash the shower curtain and rehang it.
  • Kitchens: Clean and wipe down cupboards inside and out. If roommates are staying, don’t leave any food or other supplies in the fridge or cupboards unless your roommates specifically ask you to.

Additional tasks for vacant units

  • Clean the stove, oven and refrigerator thoroughly. Leave the refrigerator empty but running.
  • Vacuum cleaner: Remove and discard dust build-up from the cloth filter bag or replace the disposable bag. Leave the vacuum cleaner and all accessories in common area. Instructions are posted in the kitchen cupboard.
  • Move furniture or other items that came with the unit back to its original location and re-assemble if necessary. You will be assessed if anything is missing or damaged. Use the Online Service Centre to review the room condition report for a furniture inventory for your unit.

Departure checklist
