When is construction?
February to August 2015.
Why is this necessary?
Additional seating is required to accommodate more residents, especially during busy meal times.
Why is this happening now?
We need to start renovations in February to complete the project before new students arrive in August.
What are typical hours of work?
UBC’s approved hours of work are:
Weekdays: 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Work is typically not allowed on Sundays or statutory holidays.
What can I expect to see and hear?
Work will begin on the outdoor patio area first. Renovations to the main indoor dining space will take place after you move out. There will be construction noise during work hours and plywood boards on the windows at times. We will make every effort to reduce interruptions during busy meal times, especially dinner.
Will there still be room to eat?
All current dining spaces will remain available during construction.
What's happening with the patio?
The existing patio will be transformed into indoor dining space. The patio will close permanently in February 2015.
