Drink Smart: Alcohol first aid

For many students at UBC, alcohol is something that they will encounter along their academic journeys. Whether this be drinking yourself or being around others who are drinking, alcohol can be a social and fun way to connect with others in your community and meet new people. While alcohol can have its positive benefits, it is equally important to identify and know how to respond to the risks associated with drinking. This workshop will give attendees the skills and knowledge to assess the risks of alcohol as well as minimize harm in alcohol-related incidences.

By the end of this workshop, individuals will be able to:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of alcohol and its impacts
  • Assess the stigma surrounding alcohol usage
  • Minimize harm in situations involving alcohol
  • Practice scenarios concerning alcohol poisoning and intoxication
