Quick Tips

  • The busiest times are 9 a.m–10 a.m. and noon–1 p.m. To avoid lines, we recommend arriving after peak hours.
  • Volunteers will be on-site to assist students from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Forget something? Hewer Home Hardware will be at Place Vanier and Totem Park.

What to Expect

Arrive—Map your route and look for clearly marked signs and volunteers to help guide you.

Meet—Come meet us! There will be designated short-term parking zones so you can walk to the Commonsblock to pick up your unit keys and welcome package—and get a brief orientation. (Inside your welcome package you’ll find your copy of Connections Magazine, FAQs for your residence area, a meal plan and food services brochure, a campus map, a lanyard, your room keys, and—if you’ve ordered it ahead of time—your UBCcard!)

Unload—There are designated unloading zones. Remember: 15 minutes maximum and use boxes/bags to carry your belongings. The driver must stay with the car.

Unpack—There’s designated long-term parking so you can park your car while you unpack. Family members and friends are welcome to stay and help. Your residence has a waste sorting area—usually in the basement—so you can sustainably dispose of boxes and packing materials.

Recharge—It’s been a long day. Grab some food and drinks at the dining hall or a nearby campus food spot.

Get social—Say goodbye to family and friends by 4 p.m. and prepare to meet your roommates, floor community, and Residence Life team.
